What I need to do is create a toolpath where the dovetail bit enters from the open end, cutting around the edge and cleaning out the excess, if any. I then cut a brass strip to slide into the dovetail slot which covers the peg slot, thus creating a storage area. I then put in a 3/8" flat bit to cut a 1/4" deep slot that is 1/8" narrower and shorter than the dovetail slot. ![]() ![]() The basics are I use a 1/2" dovetail bit raised 1/8" to cut a 1" wide slot open on end of the board. I have a process that I use to cut a storage slot on the backs of my cribbage boards using a router table which I would like to transfer to my CNC router.
